The Rt. Hon. Andy Burnham MP, Shadow Health Secretary, had a very successful visit to Aldershot and Farnborough last Wednesday. During his visit Mr Burnham met the Rushmoor Labour Group for a briefing on local issues and this was followed by a meeting with a local GP to discuss the Tory led coalition governments controversial Health Bill .

At the Heron Wood Community Base Mr Burnham held a Community Forum with representatives from a number of local groups including the CAB Manager, Neighbourhood Watch, local charities, community partnerships, British Gurkha Welfare Association and local residents.

Andy Burnham concluded his visit to the borough as guest speaker at the well attended annual fundraising dinner of the Aldershot Constituency Labour Party and Rushmoor Labour Group.

Speaking after the visit Mr Burnham said:-

“It was good to talk to so many representatives and hear their fears and concerns from their various organisations. They made it clear that the policies of the Tory led coalition government are impacting on the important services they deliver.”

“Cllr Keith Dibble and his hardworking Labour Group are doing a magnificent job in leading the opposition to government at local and national level in Aldershot and Farnborough.”

Labour Group Leader, Cllr Keith Dibble added:

“We were very pleased Andy Burnham found time in his very busy schedule to visit Aldershot and Farnborough. Andy was able to meet a number of local people to hear firsthand the day-to- day problems they face”.
